You know how you get that good feeling when you see something positive? You might even say out loud, "That's cool." The feeling fades if there is nothing you can do about it, but if you can express the feeling, it lasts longer. Giving Props lets you express the feeling - even if you aren't giving money right now.
Those who are giving a few dollars to Propits also know that the feeling is MUCH stronger when you know that you helped that positive thing a little bit. When you help, you are a part of that success story. You get a little piece of that success and positive work in your heart. That energy takes root in you, and generates more success and positivity in your life.
You will be amazed when you look back on this time at the start of 2010. There is a quiet revolution sweeping the economy right now, called by various names - micro-giving, micro-donations, crowd-sourcing... You are a part of that via Propits. The Internet will roar as the infrastructure which enables the democratization of money. Expressing support and inspiring each other to create is the original higher purpose of money.
I want to encourage you to continue giving props to your friends as well as people doing good work in the world. Propits is still small - we have 78 users - so you might check out the Featured section (www.madpropits.com/featured) for cool things you can support. You should also invite people who should be supported (www.madpropits.com/share). Who do you know that deserves more for what they do?

I'm interested in the idea of propits, but I have one concern. When I was a subscriber to Keenspot Premium, they had a similar idea about the democratization of support. Every subscriber put the same amount in, then all authors were paid by the amount of premium traffic their site generated.
This generated an unfortunate side effect where I was concerned. I had only one or two webcomics that I actually supported at Keenspot, and I didn't actually hit them that often. I would read the new stuff and maybe a few hits back on the archive. But because it was based on raw premium subscriber hit counts rather than what I viewed myself, my few tiny hits were drowned out by the masses repeatedly sifting through the archives of their favorite comics over and over again.
What I'm asking is this. You say 90% goes back to those given props. If I put $10 into my account every month, and only give props to one person, and another person puts $10 into their account and gives props to 17 other people, would my guy get $1, or would he get $9? If I put $100 in, and someone else put in $10 and he gave props to 98 people, would my guy get $1 or $90? It's a very big concern to me. If he only gets $1 in this situation, I'd rather just paypal him the $10 directly.
That's an excellent question. If you put in $10 and Prop one person in the month, they get $9 (90%). If you put in $100 and prop 1 person, they get $90. If you put in $10 and prop 9 people, they each get a dollar.
In other words, 90% of whatever your contribution is gets distributed relative to the number of people you Prop, to all of the people you Prop. Make sense?
Thanks for you comments and questions. Let me know if there is anything else that I can clarify.
Thanks for the reply. It would normally be assumed that your money goes to your causes if I hadn't seen it operate the other way in the past. I've added in my information and it should start contributing soon.
Glad to hear you are coming on board! If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to let us know.
I've also noticed that even though my card was charged, the account statistics doesn't show that any money has been distributed yet to those on my list. Is there a delay between charging and distribution? The charge happened about 21 days ago.
Hi Kazriko,
Could you email us at support@madpropits.com with your username or real name so that we can look into that?
Thanks,
-Thomas
